NAVIROTEL was born from a happy accident. This is one of its originalities.

Here is its amazing story.

Mr. André HAZEBROUCQ, owner of a seaside plot of land in Le Trayas, wonderfully oriented, had considered using it for his personal enjoyment and taking advantage of this exceptional site by equipping it with a construction adapted to the picturesque landscape.

In 1926, he began the works that would only be completed 10 years later.

Without a defined plan, but with the guiding idea of giving each room a studied orientation to shelter it from the winds and bathe it in sunshine,

it is thus that an extraordinary residence was built little by little on the rock itself, defying all the principles of conventional architecture.

A passionate animator, adding, subtracting, constantly modifying according to his fancy, Mr. André HAZEBROUCQ realized his inspirations of the moment

without thinking of deriving any profit from it.

It was only after 10 years of artistically conceived and harmoniously realized work that Mr. Hazebroucq thought about the use that could be made

of a realization whose grandiose setting underlines the restful beauty.

Opening the doors of his estate first to his close friends and then to his many friends, they suggested the idea of allowing the elite to benefit from this splendor.

This is how NAVIROTEL was born.

However, it was then only an anarchic chaos of separate rooms dug into the rock, which had to be cleverly coordinated by an appropriate architecture.

Anxious to preserve all its value to the atmosphere, all these disparate elements were simply connected by a cleverly adapted facade and

the whole took the form of a ship with majestic flanks entering the sea.

It was in 1936 that NAVIROTEL was completed. From 1937, NAVIROTEL, known to all insiders, became the meeting place of the elegant world, its architectural originality, its comfort, its unprecedented commercial methods soon made it known throughout the world.

People came from everywhere, from India, from both Americas, from all over Europe.

Rooms were booked months in advance and despite the crisis, NAVIROTEL experienced the most astonishing affluence from its opening.

On August 20, 1939, the War put an end to this remarkable prosperity.

During the war, the Navirotel was transformed into a military hospital, American soldiers of the 83rd Infantry Division were treated after the landing in Normandy.

NAVIROTEL INCLUDED: 40 rentable rooms with running water, including

12 with bathroom,

10 rooms for management,

Outbuildings, dormitories; driver’s accommodation, car box.

1 car garage for 15 cars

1 garage for 8 boats.

The Navirotel reopened its doors in 1948 to the delight of vacationers who came to spend a few days there.

The Navirotel is located in the full midday sun and sheltered from all winds, which gives the NAVIROTEL spring all year round.

The Navirotel, which served as a hospital during the war, resumed its hotel activity in 1948.
